Match Report
Bay vs Ovenden, W.R.Cup away 3-11-07 3-2
Bay go through into the next round of the west riding cup with a good
win. John Buckley opened the scoring on 30 mins after a throw-in was
layed off by Nico Mcmahon into his path, and a low driven shot from
20 yds into the bottom left corner left the keeper with no chance. Joe
Sagars pulled off a good save on 40 mins when when a miss hit cross
was going over him, but his tip onto the bar saved his blushes. On 60
mins Bay went 2-0 up after Buckley's cross found Freddie Mcgillivary
who layed it into the path of Kitson Gayle who could not miss fromm
3yds out. Ovenden pulled one back when a quickly taken free kick caught
the defence off-gaurd. Bay stepped up thier pace and an own goal was
forced by Mcgillivary after he panicked the defender into just kicking
the ball past his own advancing keeper from 20yds. Again Ovenden scored
again, but Bay were on top and the game came to an end.
. Bay vs Storthes Hall in Prem div cup 27-10-07
WON 3-1
Storthes hall started well and were on top most of the 1st half and
deservedly went one up on 25 mins with a well worked goal from 20yds.
In the 2nd half the game changed to Bays advantage and good work from
ryan Buckley gave Mugadza an easy chance to level on 55 mins. Freddie
Mcgillivary scored the 2nd after the ball rolled kindly for him in the
penalty area and he put it in the bottom left corner from 12yds. Bay
were now the better team and Mugadza finished the game off with his
2nd of the game after going on a mazy run from the half way line.
Ovenden WR v Bay Athletic
20/10/07 2- 5
An influential Kitson Gayle helped Bay Athletic record a convincing
5-2 away victory against Ovenden. The game, which was highly eventful,
was passionately contested by both teams who both believed they could
win at all times. Despite a reasonably close first half, and without
the presence of the talented Brighton Mugadza, it was Bay who edged
the second half and in the end thoroughly deserved the margin of their
victory. Bay went ahead with just less then 15 minutes on the clock.
Gayle up front made light work of a difficult job, turning the Ovenden
defender and finishing with precision to leave the goalkeeper helpless.
It could be argued that the defender let him past too easily but credit
must go to the forward for showing great strength and determination
to beat his marker. The next goal attempt saw Bay go two nil ahead with
over 25 minutes of the half left. Minutes after the home side had a
handball appeal turned down deep in the Bay Athletic half, a good move
and shot by Kitson Gayle deflected into the path of Barry Howe at the
far post, who was on hand to slide the ball from a few yards out. Delight
for Bay who were evidently benefiting from the strength and ability
Gayle upfront was providing. The hard working Paul Pyke had a few minutes
to forget on 25 minutes. Pyke, who had a brilliant game from Bay, missed
a good chance after the Ovenden goalkeeper miss-kicked his clearance
and was booked shortly after for what the referee deemed a bad challenge.
The Ovenden number 10, who also had a good game, was booked moments
later for a separate incident. Bay, who went a goal down courtesy of
a brilliant long range goal last week, found themselves in a similar
situation just after the half hour mark. After Tom Brown did well to
head clear for Bay, a wonderful long range effort left Stewart Andrews
with little he could do as the ball sailed into the back of the net,
bringing Ovenden back into the game. The home team's joy, however, was
short lived as Bay once again gave themselves a two goal cushion just
after the 35th minute. A delightful through ball from Niko McMahon released
Ryan Buckley who showed great composure and finish to match as he went
round the keeper to score into an empty net. What followed was a frantic
few minutes, with plenty of strong, effective tackling and in particular
the home side who were clearly frustrated with being 3-1 down. The game
slowed down as the half progressed towards its latter stages, with short,
effective passing on display from both teams. With the first half just
about forty minutes old, Ovenden were awarded a penalty after a foul
by Tom Brown. The Ovenden number 11 stepped up and send the keeper the
wrong way to make the score 3-2 to Bay. This was the way the score stayed
at half time, but only due to a combination of a missed free header
and an important tackle from Joe Pinnock that could have seen the home
side pull level or even take the lead. The second half started as it
would mean to go on with two good chances and a goal all within five
minutes of the re-start. After both sides went close to scoring, it
was the away side who gave themselves the perfect start, which once
again provided a two goal cushion. Adam McLachlan provided a slide rule
pass to Paul Pyke who's right foot shot went in underneath the home
side's goalkeeper. The Ovenden 'keeper will probably feel he could have
stopped the goal but credit to Paul Pyke who put plenty of power behind
the shot. After the goal, and for the ten minutes that followed it,
saw Bay go close to increasing their lead with some decent build up
play. Firstly, Kitson Gayle released a good ball to Ryan Buckley who
in the end nearly found Gayle with a cross after a poor first touch
when bearing down on goal. Then, with sixty minutes on the clock, build
up play involving Niko McMahon and Paul Pyke, who was enjoying a lot
of possession down the right hand side, nearly led to a first class
goal. The cut back from Pyke would surely have been finished by Gayle
had he not been unfortunate enough to slip inside the area. As the second
half approached its midway stage, the game started to turn a bit sour.
With the home side looking to get back into the game, and Bay looking
to effectively rubber stamp their win, the game turned vocal, stopping
many times to deal with arguments stemming from the referees decisions.
The games next incident of note involved the Ovenden goalkeeper. After
doing so well to intercept a through ball from the Bay forwards, he
attempted to find his team mate with a crisp pass. This ended up at
the feet of the Bay midfield, but the goalkeeper did magnificently well
to recover and save well from Barry Howe who seemed certain to score.
Shortly after, the away team made two substitutions. One of which included
match winner Freddie McGillivary replacing Ryan Buckley, in an attempt
to add some fresh firepower to the Bay Athletic attack. However, it
was the home side that enjoyed a decent spell of possession which lead
to two 25 yard efforts that drifted harmlessly wide. Credit to the Bay
defence who like last week restricted their opposition to efforts from
distance. The game was effectively over in the 77th minute after an
own goal from the Ovenden number 5 made it 5-2 to Bay. A pot shot from
Bay hit the centre back, which looped over the stranded goalkeeper and
into the net. The home team will curse their luck but Bay will argue
they were due some after going close before hand. The remainder of the
half after the 5th goal lacked any clear cut chances, enabling Bay to
comfortably see out the half and confirm the 3 points.
Bay Athletic v Tyersal
13/10/07 2 -1
A last minute winner from substitute Freddie McGillivary ensured Bay
Athletic secured all three points in a game that lacked many clear cut
chances. The energetic Brighton Mugadza and the commanding Joe Pinnock
were two of the home team's more effective performers in a match that
really was as tight as the score line suggests. Bay, who named two recent
signings in their fourteen man squad, created some of the better opening
chances. Five minutes into play, an incisive through ball from Adam
McLachcan released Paul Pyke down the right hand side only to see his
effort drift harmlessly wide. It was an encouraging move by the home
team who were attempting to make an early impact on the game. However,
Tyresal's only goal of the game after 15 minutes made a dramatic impact
on the game which left everyone in awe. With both teams working hard
in an attempt to cancel out any attacking play by the opposition, it
needed a piece of individual technique and skill to break the deadlock.
Tyresal's number 9 received the ball to feet, turned his marker cleverly
and scored a superb goal with his right foot from just outside the area.
It was an unstoppable shot that Joe Sagar in goal could do nothing about.
After a further fifteen minutes of neat play by both sides, it was Bay
who carved out an equaliser with some build up play of the highest quality.
Brighton Mugadza found Adam McLachcan down the right wing with a perfectly
weighted pass, his effective cut back finished by Ryan Buckley after
correctly anticipating the cut back from his team mate. The final twenty
minutes of the half produced plenty of action which could and arguably
should have seen the half time goals count read as a higher figure.
Shortly after equalising, Bay's Adam McLachlan was again heavily involved
in the home team's goal threat as he unleashed a crisp effort from all
of 35 yards out. Tyresal's goalkeeper showed safe hands in dealing with
the effort. Ironically, soon after producing a good save from McLachlan,
the away side's goalkeeper nearly gifted Bay's Tom Brown their second
goal and was lucky to get away without conceding after some uncertain
goalkeeping. On top of the neat passing football on display by both
sides towards the latter stages of the half was some crucial defending
from the home side to thwart decent build up by Tyresal. An important
tackle from Daz Norcliffe saved Bay as the away team looked certain
to score. This was then topped off by Tom Brown who saved his team by
clearing an effort from Tyresal's number 11 off the line after Sagar
was beaten. The second half failed to live up to the high standards
set in the first forty five minutes. It was far from dull but with both
teams giving away possession cheaply, both managers were evidently frustrated.
The first incident of note came just after the 50 minute mark when Tyresal
had an effort disallowed for a foul on Joe Sagan in goal after a deep
cross. There was little complaint from the away team after a clear foul
whilst attempting to beat the keeper to the cross. The fizz and energy
displayed by both teams in the first half slowly filtered out of the
game. Tyresal resorted to pumping long balls up the field that were
confidently dealt with by the Bay defence on most occasions. The home
team attempted some neat football but were frustrated by a combination
of sloppiness and good midfield work from Tyresal. With sixty minutes
played, Freddie McGillivary replaced Ryan Buckley who put in a sound
performance for his duration on the field. It turned out to be an astute
decision by the home team who would later reap the rewards of the change.
Another clearance off the line, this time by Tyresal after a firm header
by John Buckley from a corner which landed right on the penalty spot.
The next fifteen minutes was edged by Tyresal, who were unlucky not
to get a clear run on goal after their forward danced his way through
the Bay defence. Credit to Joe Pinnock though who showed great strength
and determination to stop their forward line from getting a clear sight
on goal. Action at either end remained limited in the final third of
the half with both sides becoming frustrated with a combination of sloppy
play and bad luck. With ten minutes to go McZachcan struggled to hide
his frustration with the state of play and as a result picked up his
sixth booking of the season, all for dissent. With players and officials
beginning to accept a 1-1 draw, substitute McGillivary latched onto
a deadly through ball to hit a left foot shot across the keeper and
into the net with only added time remaining on the clock. It was a cool
finish but Tyresal will be disappointed that they did not hold out for
what would probably have been a deserved point. The three minutes of
injury time saw Bay successfully run the clock down with Brighton Mugadza
doing well to keep the ball in the corner away from danger. Tyersal
can take positives from the game as they played extremely well, however
it was Bay Athletic who produced the goods where it counted which ensured
they won the game.
Knaresborough V Bay Athletic W.RCup 6-10-07 3-4
Another slow start saw Bay go 1-0 down after 5 mins when poor defending
let in their striker to beat potty with an angled shot across goal form
18 yds. Bay put together some good moves and Paul Pyke equalised on
20 mins when he scored the rebound after his first shot was saved. Another
defensive mix up saw Knaresborough score 5 mins later with an almost
identical goal. In the 2nd half Bay went 3-1 down after another poor
clearance let in the forward and he scored with 3 players on the line.
Bay realised they were going out of the cup unless they put in some
hard work and on 75 mins Freddie Mcgillivary beat the offside trap to
run through and slot it passed the advancing keeper. 5 mins later John
Higgins put John Buckley through on goal and he rounded the keeper and
cooly put it in the net. 5 mins after that John Buckley put Ryan Buckley
through and he beat the keeper with a well placed shot into the bottom
corner.
Keighley Shamrocks vs Bay Athletic 29.09.07 2-1
Chances went begging by the bucket full in this game. Bay missed three
one on one's in the first 5 minutes without forcing the keeper into
making a save. Inevitably they went one nil down when the big Keighley
centre forward beat keeper Heywood to a cross and finished with a neat
header. A super Pyke effort levelled the scores soon after, and it looked
like Bay would step up and take the points. Not so ! Heywood made a
hash of a clearence which was rolled to Damien Lee who obliged with
the finish. The only problem was, that Mr Lee's name did not appear
on the teamsheet. This was brought to the referee's attention during
the game. The second half was mainly one way traffic, but Bay just could
not score. John Buckley had a 5 yard header saved, and a shot bounced
down off the crossbar over the line, but the referee was not in a position
to see it clearly. There is no disguising the fact that Bay were well
below their best, but the destination of the points lies in the hands
of the League committee !
Hemsworth MW vs Bay Athletic 22.09.07 3-4
Bays victory came after coming from behind to a dramatic finish to
win 4-3 as Hemsworth missed a penalty in the last minute of injury time.
The game started well with Hemsworth putting pressure on Bays defence
with long balls hit up to their strikers, but with Tom Brown and Daz
Norcliffe holding strong they never looked dangerous. Then on 15 mins
a speculative shot from 25 yds was going well wide until it deflected
of Norcliffe to spin into the back of the net. Bay pushed and pulled
one back after John Buckleys low driven cross found John Higgins at
the back post to smash in from 6 yds. Further chances wre not taken
by Ryan Buckley and Paul Pyke, and a big punt from the Hemsworth goalie
caught bays defence off guard and keeper richard was lobbed from 20yds
whilst advancing to the onrushing striker. With 20 mins to go Pyke smashed
one in from 8yds after good pressure and 2 mins later Freddie Mcgillivary
curled one in from 20yds. 5 mins after that Brighton Mugadza beat two
men and fired a low shot to the keepers right from 10yds to finish the
game , but Hemsworth came back and a driven cross from the left sailed
over everyone into the far top corner to make a frantic final 5 mins.
In the dying seconds the ref gave a dubious penalty but the Hemsworth
captain placed his shot wide right to give Bay all 3 pts......YES....
Bay vs Halifax Irish (15/09/07) 3-2
With Bay on a roll everything seemed like it was going to change with
this performance. Players were unable to control the game, passes and
communication was barely in existence and at half time a0-0 scoreline
was fair. In the second half after two subs came on Bay picked up a
little and were rewarded on 55 mins with a goal from Adams. Bay then
went back to sleep and the Irish stepped up and drew level on 65 mins
and went 2-1 up 10 mins later after poor tracking back allowed a virtually
free header from 6 yds. The game looked set to end this way but on 83
mins Adam Mclachan picked up the ball 40 yds out ran 15 yds and unleashed
an unstoppable shot to go in the top corner off the underside of the
bar to spurn the Bay and their supporters on. With 2 mins remaining
John Buckley picked up the ball in defence, drove forward and picked
out Freddie Mcgillivary, who's neat pass found adam on the right wing
and his cross found Ryan Buckley who found the bottom corner of the
net to send the Bay into ectasy ........
Bay Athletic V Ovenden WR 08/09/07 6-0
What a strange game football is ! For the first half an hour it was
a tight and keenly fought contest, without a chance falling to either
side. It looked like the first goal would be crucial, in what has traditionally
been a close fixture.Ovenden were definitely "up" for it.
Then, after 32 minutes the Ovenden keepers clearance was returned upfield
towards Pyke. He seized on some hesitancy between the defence and the
keeper, rounded the latter, and made it 1-0. Two minutes later, the
ball was again played up to Pyke. He drew the keeper, rounded him, and
made it 2-0. Two minutes of boredom followed, before Pyke sweetly struck
home another two goals in two minutes ! The build up's to which remain
a bit of a blur. Amazingly, Pyke had scored a hat trick in 4 minutes,
and 4 in 6 minutes. Ovenden's hearts and heads visibly sank after the
first goal, and from now on it was about pride. Pyke was sent clear
again, only to be hacked down in the penalty area. The referee somehow
deemed this not to be a penalty. The second half began with Pyke hitting
the post, and being hacked down again for another none penalty. Then,
a good interchange and passing move saw Pyke through one on one with
the keeper. He............. you know the rest !!! 5-0, Pyke 5. This
was by no means a one man show, everyone contributing to a man. Barry
Howe and Tom Brown were back to their best, and John Buckley continued
his bright start to the season. Brighton Mugadza brought his trick box
with him again. At one point, three defenders bore down on him with
malicious intent, only to be left looking at each other as he danced
his way passed rhem in the blink of an eye. Lincoln Adams worked and
battled hard up front. He became increasingly frustrated as he regularly
took up great positions, and regularly , he didn't receive the ball
! I think he actually contemplated an own goal, just to get on the scoresheet.
Eventually he got his just reward. A JC Higgins effort was probably
about 0.5mm from crossing the line, when Adams flung himself ( a la
David Nugent / Jermaine Defoe ) and managed to get a stud on the ball.
A real "poachers" goal, ask JC ! For the final sixty minutes
of the game, Bay had played some sublime football with excellent passing
and movement.Believe me, not many sides will do this to Ovenden. The
referee was reasonable, but failed to tackle most of the main decisions.
All in all though, a good day at the office for the Bay.
Bay Athletic V Golcar Utd 05/09/07 6-2
Andy Salm returned for the Bay, but Paul Pyke and Freddie McGillivary
were ruled out through injury. The game began with Bay looking unusually
nervy, and Golcar duly took the lead after 9 minutes. An innocuous looking
cross was inadvertantly headed past his own keeper by Tom Brown. The
pace of the game picked up considerably, but Bay's play was more frenzied
than cultured. Nerves were settled a little after 20 minutes when the
ball fell to Brighton Mugadza in the centre circle. He jinked past three
players and struck home a beautiful low shot to the keeper's right,
from 20yards.Ten minutes later,Mugadza swung over a superb cross for
Lincoln Adams to head Bay into the lead. Shortly after, the ball fell
to JC Higgins just inside the Golcar half. As acres of space opened
up before him, he advanced and unleashed a dipping 30yarder into the
top right hand corner. The platform had been built for Bay to go on
and win the game. An excellent early second half move, which twice involved
Mugadza, resulted in Adam McLachlan steadying himself before planting
a firm shot into the net from 10 yards. Jason Tiplady replaced an unusually
subdued Ryan Buckley, who despite creating several chances for himself,
had failed to convert them. A lovely through ball soon allowed Tiplady
to score his first league goal, beating the keeper coolly from wide left,
about 10 yards out. Golcar rallied briefly, scoring from a corner which
eluded everyone before being headed home, 5 -2. The scoring was completed
after Tiplady was sent clear down the middle. His shot was saved, but
Adams blasted the ball, and the goalkeeper's hand high into the net
! Bay played very well in spells, and there were solid performances
from Salm, Higgins, John Buckley, and Adam McLachlan. The star of the
show however was Brighton Mugadza, who did more running and tackling
than in his previous four seasons!! Referee Clough was sound, if unspectacular, managing
not to book anyone, despite being constantly moaned at by some players.
Bay Athletic V Hall Green Utd 01/09/07 8 - 1
Rumours of our death have been greatly exaggerated ! A speculative
cross cum shot gave Hall Green the lead after 3 minutes. But within a
minute, a beautiful through ball left Ryan Buckley clear to coolly slot
the ball past the keeper for the equaliser. Ten minutes later, Adams
somehow dug out a cross from deep in the corner, which evaded the keeper.
Ryan Buckley was again on hand to head in to the gaping goal. The score
remained the same for a while, until JC Higgins floated in a superb
cross for Adams to plant a firm header in to the corner. Then came the
goal of the game! The ball fell to Mitchell ten yards out. He drilled
his shot into the ground, and somehow put offspin, legspin, topspin, backspin
and right hand side on the ball. The keeper watched dumbfounded as the
ball spun agonisingly into the net. A classic to end the half. Bay started
the second half with all guns blazing, scoring twice through Adams and
Howe. Unfortunately, the writer missed the goals as he was enjoying
a refreshing pint in the bar! I am assured by Barry Howe that his was
a barnstorming run(barge through) followed by a crisp finish ( scuffed
shot). The game drifted along peacefully for the next 20minutes with
Bay missing a host of chances. Bay picked the pace up again for the
last 15 minutes, and Adams got his well earned hat trick goal. Not to
be outdone, Ryan Buckley got his hat trick with a 25 yard screamer to
complete the scoring. Despite the scoreline, the Hall Green keeper had
a good game, making some excellent blocks. Once again the referee, Craig
Hainsworth had an excellent game.He kept up with play well, and showed
that he had actually played the game !
Meltham Athletic V Bay Athletic 29/08/07 1-4
What a difference a week makes ! After a couple of enforced changes
and the odd positional change, Bay turned in their best performance
of the embryonic season. Meltham simply had no answer to the leadership
of Adams and the finishing prowess of Pyke up front. An early strike
by Pyke, then another, two thirds of the way through the first half,
sent Bay in at half time deservedly leading 2-0. Meltham came back in
the second half , applying pressure for 20 mins. Keeper Sagars having
to make a couple of smart saves during this period. However, Bay roared
back, and Pyke effectively sealed the contest with his hat trick goal
with approx 15 mins to go. Substitute Ryan Buckley joined the party,
and scored with a smart finish. The only blemish was a last minute consolation
goal for Meltham. This was a superb team effort, with everyone contributing
hugely. But once again Pyke stole the plaudits with his excellent hat
trick. Referee Mr McMoran was exceptional, showing both authority and
common sense when needed.
Bay Athletic vs Marsden 26/08/07 2-0
First up for the cup holders was new boys Marsden.... The perfect way
to start a new season 5 minutes into the game Alex Griffiths nodded
home from close range to put Bay 1-0 up. Bay played well without really
excelling and kept the ball very well giving Marsden very little chance
to create anything, despite this Bay couldn't extend their lead with
a whole host of good chances falling to Jason who was unable to convert
and some dreadful shooting from Micheal Fill ment Bay went into the
half only 1-0 up. The second half started in a similar fashion and the
only way Marsden even looked like scoring were a few defensive errors
the score stayed 1-0 untill 70 minutes untill Al doubled his tally with
a nice tap in.
Bay Ath v Ardsley Celtic 25/08/07 3-1
Manager Richard Spychalski made wholesale changes following the debacle
at Storthes Hall. Pike, Salm, and Norcliffe were recalled, and McGillivary
was moved to his preferred position up front. He repaid the faith with
2 headed first half goals. Not bad for someone who stands approximately
4' 7" tall ! Although Pike was the pick of the bunch ,Mugadza made
the game safe with the third. Bay missed several opportunities to increase
their lead, but eventually ran out comfortable 3-1 winners.
3rd Team
Ireti 4 Bay 10 15/09/07
Bay's new campaign opened with a sweet 10-4 victory in the sunshine
of Sands Lane in Dewsbury. Adopting an attacking 3-4-3 formation Bay
played a passing brand of football from the first whistle which was
sadly missing for most of last season. An early goal by Bay should have
been the springboard for a very comfortable afternoon but fair play
to Ireti who latched on to 2 defensive errors to score which kept Bay
on their toes as the lead was lost Four more goals from Bay and 1 from
the home team meant the half time score was Ireti 3 Bay 5. The second
half was mainly one way traffic with Bay scoring at will although another
defensive error gave Ireti their fourth of the game. Midway through
the half Bay were awarded a dubious penalty and up stepped the grey
fox to stroke the pen for a goal kick ! Will he ever get over this momentous
set back so late in his career ? We wait and watch. Final score : Ireti
4 Bay 10 Goalscorers were Swallow(5) Egan(2) Burns(2) and Stocker
Bay 2 Netherton 1 22/09/07
Fortress Bay welcomed Netherton to Sally Nook and it was good to see
ex-Bay lads Denny and Slugger still filling shirts. Adopting the same
3-4-3 formation the Bay carried on the attacking style from last week
going close on numerous occasions though there was a scare when a mis-timed
defensive header allowed the Netherton attacker a free header which
bounced back off the bar. This was a let off as Bay went to the other
end and as a defender played the ball back the keeper picked it up.
This schoolboy error was punished as young Stocker quickly laid the
ball off for Nathan Alexander to give Bay the early lead.
5 minutes later good passing football from the back and Pete Dungan's
defence splitting pass was finished clinically by Courteney Alexander
to double Bay's lead.More spurned chances followed but at half time
it was Bay 2 Netherton 0
The second half was one way traffic though Netherton were always a
threat on the counter attack and 15 minutes in they halved Bays lead.
As chance after chance went begging there was always the chance of an
upset and two minutes from time Bob Wareham pulled off a tremendous
save to preserve Bays lead. 6 points out of six but as in any standard
of football, if we don't kill teams off when we have the chance we will
get punished eventually.
Final score : Bay 2 Netherton 1 Goalscorers Allette and Alexander
Uppermill 3 Bay 3 29/09/07
I'm going to keep this one very brief - basically a sound first half
of good Bay football saw us 2-0 up with goals from Adams and Allette
and the usual gift to the opposition made the half time score Uppermill
1 Bay 2
The second half saw Bay play all the football and miss a plethera of
gilt edged chances before Alexander scored from the spot to put Bay
3-1 up. Time to put the game to bed we thought but after missing more
chances and subbing the influential Ants & Drew the Bay managed
to gift Uppermill a draw. I'm not even going to explain what happened
so as to preserve the culprits anonimity and embarassment
Didn't i say last week what would happen if we didn't put teams away
? I can't print the language that was spoken after the final whistle
F******g F*** f**** F*** etc says it all
Final score : Uppermill 3 Bay 3 Goalscorers Adams,Allette & Alexander
Storthes Hall v Bay Ath 22/08/07 7-1
A truly woeful display by the Bay allowed Storthes Hall to deservedly
crush them 7 - 1. This really was the lowest point in recent Bay history.
After a bright start in which Ryan Buckley scored with a crisp shot,
the wheels fell off ! A combination of bad defending, naivety, ill discipline,
and some appalling refereeing made for an awful evening. At 3 -1, Tiplady,
and then Mitchell were sent off, and although the remaining nine men
battled gamely, the contest was over. Storthes Hall passed the ball
about well, and were ruthless to the end.Attitudes, amomngst other things
need to drastically change if Bay are to recover from the worst possible
start to the season.
